Day trips with teenagers visiting The Vatican City and Museum
The famous Vatican City, going to a whole new country while staying in Rome. But was the city worth the visit or should I have stayed at home?
The Vatican Code
To begin with, it was hot! Sticky hot. Especially with the dress code to show respect requiring no hats with legs and shoulders covered completely. I was boiling though it wasn’t as bad for me in a long ish dress as it was for my dad and brother in trousers. To their disgust, many people didn’t follow this code. Oh well.
The Museum
Breathtaking…. The art was completely breathtaking. After finally getting inside, the paintings were incredible and will definitely stick with me for a long time. However, there’s only so much of breathtaking that you can take. After a few hours, breathtaking became boring. I was no longer finding the hard work and dedication of these amazing artists great anymore and the heat was getting to me.
Conclusion, should I have gone ?
Overall, the Vatican City was great if not extremely hot in August. Overall it was very impressive with so much gold and art it will be hard to forget. I would just say that it probably half a days worth of holiday and can get boring if you stay for too long.
